In 2008, the Australian Dancing Society will be running the Tattersall's IDSF World Latin Championship as a joint venture with the Government of Victoria and DanceSport Australia. A partnership established for the IDSF World Ten Dance Championship in 2004. The Government of Victoria and the Victorian Major Events Company (VMEC) are to be congratulated for their outstanding contribution to the sport of dance.

Congratulations to Michael Miziner and Anastasia Belykh who won the right to be Australia’s No. 1 World Latin representative for 2007 and 2008. Let’s all get behind Michael and Anastasia as they work towards making the final for Australia in 2008. The second representative will be chosen at the 2007 Tattersall’s Australian DanceSport Championship in December – who do you think it will be?

The hosting of the 2008 World Latin Championship in Melbourne shows a clear recognition of the sport's growing popularity in Australia, and it complements Melbourne’s recent distinction in presenting a very successful World Ten Dance Championship (2004).

The Australian Dancing Society has been a major contributor to the growth in dancesport in Australia and has a national commitment to develop the sport. Its flagship event, the Australian DanceSport Championship has been a preeminent event in dancesport in Australia for over 60 years.

The Australian Championship has established itself not only as a major national event, but a significant international event.

The ADS, in partnership with DanceSport Australia is proud to present Australia to the dancing world as a very competent player on the world dance calendar.
